Gingerbread House Kit

November 17th, 2014

Holiday project: Gingerbread House Kit

A couple holiday seasons ago, my friend Elise and I got together to make some

gingerbread kits for her local children's hospital.

These were so fun to assemble, and would be a fun family or neighborhood project!

The kits contained ingredients such as graham crackers, assorted candies like

skittles, gum drops, mini marshmallows and candy canes, and of course, Frosting!

We put the frosting in a baggie, to be piped out.

Hope you can make many happy family memories this holiday season!

Bright Banners

I think I am really into bright colors now-since it is finally spring!
Here's a "sketch challenge" design from my upline Lana at nannastamps.blogspot.com. I used a retired embellishment (the Designer Builder Brads) to help make the banners "pop", Hearts a Flutter framelits and Quatrefancy Specialty DSP.

A cheerful thank you card

Even though this simply sent card set is retired (as well as the stamp set!) I just LOVE the bright color combination. A great card for a cloudy day!

Another EGGstra Spectacular card

Hoppy Easter!

So here is another Easter card I made with the Eggstra Spectacular stamp set. I was inspired by Mikaela at the CraftyOinkpen.blogspot.com
I love the added feather detail (not SU!) I used the Chalk Talk framelits, trimming each end to better fit the card. The teeny pearls are a fun accent, too!
Happy Easter everyone!

Mini Easter card

Eggstraspectacular!

Love this set, and this lamb is just precious!
I used our smootch spritz to give these mini 3 x 3  cards a pearlized look, making them a little glimmery (is that a word?) : )
Check back later for another card from this fun stamp set!

Baby Shower Breakfast Invitation

I created this invitation for my wonderful SIL who was expecting her first baby. Loved the pink and gold combo! (gold is one of the baby's room accent colors)

Southern Living's Baked Potato Soup (a family favorite)

I thought it was a great time to share this yummy recipe, as nothing sounds better than a hot bowl of soup on a cold, wintery evening!

Baked Potato Soup (from The Ultimate Southern Living Cookbook)

4 large baking potatoes

2/3 cup butter or margarine

2/3 cup all-purpose flour

6 cups milk

3/4 tsp salt

1/2 tsp pepper

1 1/2 cups (6 oz) shredded cheddar cheese, divided

12 slices bacon, cooked, crumbled and divided

4 green onions, chopped & divided

1 (8oz) carton sour cream

Wash potatoes; prick several times with a fork. Bake at 400 degrees for a hour, or until done; cool.

Cut potatoes in half lengthwise; scoop out pulp and reserve. Discard shells.

Melt butter in a Dutch oven over low heat; add flour, stirring constantly. Gradually add milk; cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until thickened and bubbly.

Stir in potato, salt, pepper, 1 cup of cheese, 1/2 cup of bacon and 2 T green onions; cook until heated (do not boil). Stir in sour cream; cook just until heated (do not boil). Sprinkle servings with remaining cheese, bacon and green onions. Yield: 10 cups.
